Using Sage Pay?

Hi there, I'm loving WHMCS so far and can't wait to do more with it. I was just wondering if anyone uses SagePay to process credit card payments, as I'd love to know which system to purchase and whether I need any addons.

Unfortunately their website is currently as clear as mud and their sales team (lovely as they are) seem to be reading from a script and obviously they deal with such a broad spectrum of clients I doubt I'd be lucky enough to find one who had dealt with WHMCS before.

So far my checklist for processing credit cards is:

  • An SSL certificate
  • Some form of SagePay and maybe one of their addons..?

Can anyone offer any experience they might have with it?

Many thanks!

To use Sagepay, you'll first need a merchant account from one of the supported UK banks - in the link below, scroll down to see a list of banks.

http://www.sagepay.com/developers/administration_manual/merchant_numbers.asp

Once you've been approved, you'll get a merchant number from your bank (you may need more than 1 if you are using multi currency, and continuous authority). You can then sign up with Sagepay.

From there, just use either the form, or the direct payment module included with WHMCS. The form module works very much like PayPal, the client is redirected to the sagepay site and makes payment, they are then returned to your site.

The direct method keeps the customer on your site, and WHMCS collects and stores the cards, this allows you to process recurring payments if you have a CO number, but you also need some form of PCI compliance, your bank will usually let you know more about this.

There's apparently a new WHMCS module in the pipeline that uses the "server" integration method, so visitors would stay on your site, but Sagepay would store the card details, so you could still do repeat payments, but I'm not sure if there's an ETA on this yet.

Hi,

We are using Sage Pay Direct PRO Payment Module...As it allows payments without redirect the visitor to a Sage Pay web page...

It's really working good for us..

Thank you
