Nice.. I like. Nice, simple layout.. Easy to find everything. I know the site is still under construction but I would remove the 1st paragraph on the main page.. Maybe add something in the footer saying, still work in progress or something. That way this would not scare any potential client away.

You usually see page curls on forums, or advertising boards.. You already have the customer to your site, don't run them off with more ads.

You can simply set the client to inactive to keep all emails, invoices, etc..

Same as chickendippers here. No reason to make backup, just a waste of space for you. They are cancelling for a reason.. They should have all the files they need, usually they are already on another host.
