My next step, hopefully tonight will be to start a new server and hope there is just a random software issue.

As I mentioned, it is a brand new system install. There is no data in the database. But even so I've tried recreating the database and it does the same thing. It will populate the database with the required tables, then shows an error saying the database has tables in it. Of course it has tables in it, the installer just created them!

No it's not an upgrade. It is a fresh install. The installer just won't go past the database setup step.

I couldn't workout how to word the title. I've installed WHMCS successfully before. This time is on a fresh Ubuntu install, with only whmcs copied to the webroot. I get to /install/install.php?step=4 Which is setting up the database. I put in my database details: User: whmcs Pass: *** Database: whmcs The next page is an error: Existing WHMCS Database Found The database details provided are for a pre-existing WHMCS database. New installations require a database that does not contain an existing WHMCS installation. Please either create a new database or drop the existing WHMCS tables and data from the database provided, and then try again. So I check my database from the command line and all the tables have been created. Which makes sense, but the installer doesn't seem to realise it was the one who created the tables! I have tried dropping the database and trying again. The credentials are obviously correct as it creates the tables. I even tried using my root account just in case it was permissions. It didn't happen last time and I don't think I done anythign different..
