krimster
Hi, trying to get this domain registration sorted out. When I try and register with Registerfly I get this: Unable to register name 435 Request failed validation: Name server 'my ns' is not found at the registry. Please double check the nameserver and re-submit.Name server 'my ns' is not found at the registry. Please double check the nameserver and re-submit. I have logged a ticket at Registerfly, but the support is no tgood. Anyone else get this? And what to do? The nameservers are correct all the way around, so I haven't a clue.
joe123
login to your registerfly account and you have the option to add the default nameservers for the domains .
krimster
Well, there's a place for the IPs, should that be the IP addresses or the nameserver? If I change it to the nameserver then I get an error about the ip can't be used. It can't be this difficult, can it?
krimster
Okay, I see it now, a different place to place default nameservers, they were set to registerfly, I'll wait and see if it helps. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
krimster
So I updated at Registerfly to the default nameservers, but still no go. Will it take the same time to resolve as a domain name, the error is the same, no such nameserver at the registry.
joe123
does those nameservers actually registered ? any nameserver you want to use have to be registered with your domain registrar first. it looks like this is your problem.
krimster
You mean just there in the Registerfly control panel? Or elsewhere also? They are listed in the cp at Registerfly. Thanks for the help so far by the way!
joe123
NO , nameservers have to be registered with your domain registrar . if you registered your domain with godaddy for example and your domain is http://www.mylovelydomain.com and you want to use the nameservers ns1.mylovelydomain.com ns2.mylovelydomain.com then those nameservers have to be registred with godaddy with the related ip addresses ,one ip address for each nameserver that you get from your hosting company.
krimster
Okay, maybe I get it now. I see in the cp there is a place for a "domain profile" with fields for that. Didn't work in Firefox, so I didn't so it earlier, just changed it in IE, so maybe now it will work. Thanks, I'll try it!

brianoz
Joel is right - registerfly is a disaster happening right now - enom has just cancelled their account, and ICANN is getting involved too. They're in serious trouble now and while they'll probably make it in the long run you'd be crazy to rely on them for your business. Remember - the saving that extra dollar or so every registration is all utterly lost if you have to spend a day or so chasing a lost domain for a customer.
