When you choose the optional feature, the price is listed as "monthly" from the admin section, but when you check out, it's totalled up for a year. I'm guessing it's because I have the base plan set for annual pricing. If you choose "back" on the browser and then refresh to resubmit the information, for whatever reason it doesn't calculate the annual price until the end of the order. It shows the monthly amount in the drop menu and the total is calculated at the end. Choosing to go back again, fixes it.
