[NOT A BUG] Knowledgebase not removing posts when deleting parent category

Recommended Posts

I had a few posts in the knowledgebase in a test category. When I was done testing, I deleted the category and expected the articles to be removed as well.

However, they are still visible in the "Most popular Articles" list, but since the category has been deleted I am not able to edit or delete the articles.

Apart from being visible in "Most Popular Articles", it is also visible when searching the knowledgebase.

Articles can belong to more than 1 category so you wouldn't necessarily want to remove it when deleting one category it belongs to. You should remove articles first if you want to delete them.

Basically you are saying that the user can easily orphan records through the interface. It's pretty easy to do a SQL query count on category deletion and see if the article exists in any other categories and if not then delete the category records.
