How to Handle Failed Subscription Payments

I have a client who had not updated their credit card to their new expiration date so when it was time for their subscription it failed. They've since updated it but I don't think PayPal automatically pays the request after it's been submitted once.

 

So my question is how do I handle this? Do I send another request and if so, how should I go about doing it in WHMCS without creating a new subscription? Or is there a better way of handling this?

PayPal reattempts failed subscription payments automatically 3 days after the first due date. I'm not sure if they try it again after that. If not, switch your customer to PayPal Invoices so they get an invoice.
