mushmoosh
My host recommends that I manually register each and every domain; however, it appears that I will lose all of the following functionality: http://wiki.whmcs.com/Domains_Management As of now, I do not mind manually entering information into WHMCS for each and every approved account. However, how will I or the client keep track of renewal dates? Will WHMCS recognize them? In other words, will an invoice be generated and sent to the client every renewal "interval" and will the admin be notified that I must manually renew the domain through enom? Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks!!
BAJI26
With reseller you'll get a cheaper price and you still have the option of manually registering but auto is just grand!
mushmoosh
Thank you for the response... My host keeps insisting that the "automated" approach through a reseller enom account will result in a lot of fraud. They recommend the manual approach; however, I REALLY want to utilize WHMCS to the fullest and the enom API. Here my host's consistent message to me: "There is no 5 day grace period to cancel domain registrations with enom. They just updated their policy since ICANN just had some updates and domain registrations are no longer refundable whatsoever. Once you purchase a domain it is set for at least the one year." I would love to hear about your experience / further recommendations!
chickendippers
If you implement sufficient fraud screening (we use the Varilogix module) then fraud isn't a problem.
mushmoosh
I will check out Varilogix... For now, if I manually submit all domain registrations, then will an invoice be generated and sent to the client every renewal "interval" and will the admin be notified that I must manually renew the domain through enom?
tweaked
We use Maxmind and it is proving to be very effective in fraud screening. There are plenty of domain reseller options other than enom too.
moonsoft
I have been using Enom for over 3 years now, I have to say they are the best as far as automation, and I have yet to be refused a refund of points to my account if i have a client make a mistake "mispelled domain name" or a cancelled order. As far as fraud protection, We are using MaxMind, and viewing the features and the price it's really a no-brainer. The telephone verification is also an added plus, and the ability to reject a card that's being entered from an IP that is nowhere near their physical location is also a plus. Telephone verification makes sure someone is logged so even if there is fraud the people are caught!! Anyone trying to defraud you would most likely never carry out the phone verification.
scurrell
I have yet to be refused a refund of points to my account if i have a client make a mistake "mispelled domain name" or a cancelled order. That's now changed. No refunds.
moonsoft
Well personally, I would just install the fraud modules listed above either one is good, I like the MaxMind personally the phone verification can be forced on every order, and the price is soo cheap thats it's not funny, if you use more than 500 querys a month then with that volume losing a domain registration credit wouldn't impact you very much
HostBizLng
Concerning grace period, I just been checking enom TLD Overview and there is a grace period for certain TLDs, as it always been. And there are TLDs that have no grace period. That's from enom website: http://www.enom.com/help/faq_resellers.asp#delete "What if my customer makes a mistake? Can a domain be deleted after it is registered? Yes, many TLDs have a 5 day grace period during which a domain can be deleted and refunded. Deletions can be performed using the DeleteRegistration API command (see the API Command Catalog). For more details about which TLDs can be deleted with this command, see the TLD Overview." Can you post a link to Refund Policy or link to ICAAN or any information you are referring to? scurrell
Can you post a link to Refund Policy or link to ICAAN or any information you are referring to? From Enom Support Center "Effective April 1, 2009, ICANN will be implementing the new Add/Delete Grace Period policy. In preparation of this new policy, eNom is removing access to the Delete Command within its API. eNom will remove access on March 31st, 2009. Likewise, we do not offer refunds on domains after registration is complete. All sales are final (as stated on the shopping cart and per our registration agreement). Please verify spelling and number of years to be registered before submitting all orders. For more information on the Add Delete Policy, you can visit ICANN's web site at: http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-17dec08-en.htm"
