wannabe
Hi If I decide to change registrars, how would I transfer my clients domains to the new registrar? Assuming my clients domain is registered through my old registrar. Thanks
0 snelweg
Same way anyone transfers a domain name. what a stupid and rude answer. if you don't want to help, don't respond. I am having trouble transfering domains myself right now, it's insulting to read dumb*ss answers like this!
0 wannabe
Well if you care to provide some specifics then I'll happily provide a more specific answer. Ask a stupid question! Sorry, I didn't realise it was a stupid question. For those who don't think its a stupid question, I'll try to elaborate. John Doe signs up for hosting and a new domain. The domain gets registered through the registrar I'm using at the time. Twelve months down the track I decide to start using a registrar with better service and prices. Now John Doe's domain is coming up for renewal. How would I transfer John's domain from the old registrar I was using to the new one I'm now using. Keep in mind that John doesn't really need to know that the domain is being moved to anther registrar, because as far as he is concerned the domain is just part of the whole hosting package.
0 netearth
It would be interesting to find out if you change the registrar under pricing, does WHMCS have an auto feature (doubt it does yet - MATT ) to then check the pricing at time of renewal and think AHA! new registrar, therefore get EPP code and initiate transfer. Would be a nice feature to see, Matt ? You cant do it as a global domain rule (all in one go) as I assume the registrar has to stay the same until renewal / transfer for other management features to work?

I did this about 12 months ago and you will need to initiate a transfer to the new registrar making sure that certain requirements are met. By doing this unfortunately your imaginary friend John will still need to approve the transfer because he is the domain owner. Probably the best way to do it would be in admin => Client Details => Domains select the domain and change the setting for that domain to the new registrar and click save. Then you would need to click the transfer button and enter the name servers and epp code to initiate the transfer. Keep in mind that the auth email is sent to the Registrant email address that is in the change contact details page. I found a couple of links that may help you to understand the process a bit better. http://www.wallpaperama.com/forums/how-to-transfer-domain-names-from-one-registar-reseller-to-another-domain-register-t1363.html http://www.icann.org/en/transfers/policy-12jul04.htm EDIT: And it would be one by one I'm afraid. 0 chickendippers
We did this recently, and as I mentioned you have to go through the regular transfer procedure (EPP code, confirmation email etc). However if you don't want your customers to know, all you have to do is change the whois contact email address to your own, so you then receive the transfer conformation email and can approve it!
