WHMCS and Recurring Payments (Paypal)

jgalty

Question

Hi guys

I was just wondering. I know that WHMCS will set up recurring payments by month, quarter and etc. But how does it work for the actual credit card to get charged.

I want to use paypal pro with WHMCS. Will the customer sign up once and the payment comes out every month or do i have to set something up in Paypal pro for the money gets taken out every month.

Hopefully that makes sense.

From what I know about Pay-Pal PRO, is that it's a gateway just like Authorize.net, it's a credit card gateway, not just pay-pal, the standard pay-pal gateway just encompases a buy it now code or subscription, from what i have seen in other providers that support both is TWO different selections

Pay-Pal

&

Pay-Pal PRO

I could be wrong I haven't used them for quite some time, but this is what I have seen in other shopping cart software that I have set up.

Im curious about this as well. I currently have paypal pro and clientexec, but just purchased a whmcs license with the intent to move to it. As of now i am forced into using paypal subscriptions because CE doesn't support paypal pro's feature set. Does whmcs allow automatic recurring billing through paypal pro to avoid using paypal subscriptions which require each customer to go through the horrid paypal verification process?

WHMCS has a payment module for PayPal Website Payments Pro, and Payflow Pro (PayPal) (as well as the regular PayPal managed invoicing/subscriptions method).

Either one should allow you to automatically charge clients and not have to rely on subscriptions.

Paypal payments pro $30.00

Recurring Payment $30.00

Advanced Fraud Management Filters $20.00 +.05 per transaction (to remove require CCV)(also must pass credit check).

This is what would be needed to utilize paypal pro and recurring payments. And yes it works with WHMCS.

We use the UK version of PayPal Website Payments Pro, so perhaps there are some slight differences but we only pay the monthly fee for Payments Pro (£20/month) and have access to the CCV and AVS filters without paying extra for the other advanced filters. We don't have the recurring payments addon either as WHMCS initiates the transactions.

I'm also interested in this, so we can take recurring payments through PayPal Website Payments Pro effectively without actually needing a recurring payment module? Can someone clarify this? Thanks

As long as you can remove the need to collect the cvv code you should be alright...

I was mistaken in my post about needing recurring payments through paypal, since whmcs stores the credit card info...

I personally am using cdgcommerce instead as it was less expensive and will ensure that all my funds are not within paypals control....

A shade offtopic, but if someone can clarify this I'd appreciate it:

Regarding what was said above, the gateway named simply "Paypal" is actually for Payflow Pro??

I thought that was the "normal" PayPal interface (called "the regular PayPal managed invoicing/subscriptions method" above, I believe).

I missed something, if that's true.

NO, there is a separate payment gateway labeled "Payflow Pro (paypal)"

you are right that the gateway labeled paypal is for regular paypal account

there is also a seperate one for paypal payments pro...

For recurring payments using "Paypal" nothing additional is needed just paypal

For recurring payments utilizing paypal pro (taking credit card payments directly on your site) you would need to be able to utiliize the option under "risk controls" or "fraud features" for requiring cvv code... as the cvv code is not stored and would not be able to be resent when the next payment is attempted. So you would need to have paypal pro and if the option is not in your risk controls you may have to purchase the "extra fraud controls"...

It's at paypal discretion whether or not they will give you access to the additional fraud controls, some have them already some have to pay for them and some will not be allowed to have them(I believe this depends on credit scoring)

You would need to contact paypal regarding the risk controls...

How did you get cdgcommerce integrated into whmcs. I want to use them but I dont see them on the list of support payment gateways. cdg talks about being able to emulate authorize.net, is that how you are doing this? i also read about the mention of quantum gateway as well, do i use quantum gateway to get cdg up and running...

thanks
