active8
Hi, Quite a few of my clients are complaining that random payments are being taken from their PayPal accounts. Say a clients monthly payment went out one day, the next payment comes out 2 days after and its not always the same amount..its very random and unpredictable. Does anyone have any ideas about this as I'm finding it fairly puzzling. Am trawling through the forums looking for a solution in the meantime. Thanks
chickendippers
The standard PayPal gateway can't take payments randomly. The customer has to login each time to authorise the payment or setup a subscription.
active8
OK, but why would it be generating random invoices? I am sure these clients are setup to be billed once each month but this client paid £12 on the 2nd and £12 on the 3rd.. why? lol
merlinpa1969
we have seen this it comes from users setting up more than 1 subscription then their next invoice comes out and it says pay this amount.... so they do...... this is the main reason that we are asking for either a way to determine if a customer gets an invoice ( pay this amount ) or a billing reminder ( your account is setup to pay automatically on this date )
active8
so what is the best way to counteract this issue? stop them from using subscriptions and just making manual payments per month instead?
chickendippers
Educate your customers. We've added a message to our invoice emails telling them to check their PayPal account for a subscription and if one exists payment will be made automatically. Once you tell a customer that they've been overpaying (distinct from being overcharged) they soon learn However it does still happen from time-to-time, not a lot that can be done about it really.
