Domains registered else where and not transfered

I want to add reference to domains that customers own but are hosted elsewhere and not transfered.

The customer just changes there nameservers to point to my hosting,

Would like some sort of reference to the domain in there account, so can give them upcoming renewal warnings.

I realise this is the customers domain registrars job to inform them but once the domain expires i loose the hosting also, so its in my interest to remind them.

How can i add an option to the account but is clear that it registered else where, if you can see what i am trying to explain.

How do you guys do it ?

Thank you

Yeah, but it is going to be a major headache. There will be no automatic way to keep the expiry dates synced up. The customer, when signing up, will have to not choose to update nameservers, but choose to transfer the domain to him. That is going to be pretty confusing for the customer. I think it would also be confusing to the customer that they are getting expiry emails from you when their domain isn't hosted with you.

It seems like a strange idea to me. I would just make good use of the "Domain Resolver Check" utility. When someones domain expires it will no longer point to your servers and you can then notify the client. They have 30 days grace period to renew a domain after expiry.
