Domain Renewal Dates in Invoices

For some reason, the renewal dates for domain names aren't included in the $invoiceitems[description] field like they are for hosting products.

 

Does anyone know of a work around that will allow the dates to be displayed on invoices so that customers can see the period for which they are being invoiced for their domains?
