Drac0
With v3.8 beta being released, v3.8 stable will hopefully follow soon. I'm looking forward to some of the new features and all the bug fixes. With that thought, what are some of the steps that those of you with customized templates, custom add ons and WHMCS alterations take to make sure everything works with the new version? I already have all my client side customizations done on a custom theme, so it will not be written over on the update. Hind site is screaming at me that I should have documented my admin side customizations though. I've read several posts where one upgrade or another broke customizations and other community add ons. Since I'm just a little guy with one server, I'd like to do what I can before I roll v8.3 out on my live account. To what extent do you go to test?
openmind
To be honest I don't really test out upgrades as I have a lot of faith in WHMCS, good thing or bad thing you decide For template customisations though I use http://www.winmerge.com which is fantastic in isolating changed files. Point it at a copy of my files and also at the new files and it will tell me not only which file has chnaged but also which line so I can merge the changes in. You can safely ignore the vast majority of files due to the encoding but WinMerge saves me a lot of pain..
