Hi all, I would like to do sub-items under a main item in the invoice. It is for detailed description for a bundled package, so teh sub-items doesn't have price. for eg.

Hosting Plan A $50

- 50GB space

- 100GB data transfer

- FREE domain

Anyone know how to do that? Thanks for helping.

I'd like this myself, but I don't think there's any such concept in WHMCS at this point.

What I think you are asking for is a "bundle" or "master product". When that bundle product is ordered, it causes all the sub products to be added to the customer order automagically.

There is some complexity in this, which is why it hasn't been done I'd say. The complexity, at least as far as I'm aware of so far, is in

  • that you'd need the sub-products to be automatically added to the client's account
  • The invoice would need to optionally show the child products, but only have a dollar amount against the bundle product
  • at least for the moment, deleting the subproducts manually if the bundle was altered would be OK
  • would have an impact on the client area as well (leaving that unspecified at the moment)
  • there might be issues around renewal of the bundle
  • and impact on other areas, I'm sure...

The business advantage of this is that it allows you to offer a discount for a combined bundle of products.

This is something that I miss in WHMCS! I've seen other people ask for this occasionally. If we want it to happen, it would be good to have some discussion to nail down what is wanted as that gives Matt and the other WHMCS folks a chance to consider where it might fall in line with the other enhancements and directions they are constantly juggling.

For now, what I'm doing is renaming the hosting product and using that as the bundle. This does work, although staff have to be aware that a bundle product implies other products.

Would love to hear what other people do to get this functionality now, and thoughts on what they would like to see implemented. Remember, it needs to be kept simple, a Taj Mahal takes longer to build!

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. Actually what I want is multi-lines descriptions instead of single-line. I don't need the sub-item being priced and automatically do calculation.

I have find a way to put my details in the Notes. But it will appear at the bottom part in printable version. And it is confusing if I have more than one bundled products to be detailed.

you can always have a "discount" product with a -ve value
Was the idea behind this something like adding the individual products from the bundle, then adding a discount product?

I guess the other advantage was the use of a bundle hid the multiple small products from view... which of course, the discount product idea breaks.

Nice idea though!

  • 1 year later...

Also VERY keen on making bundles, actually a major business requirement for launching service for my business. Needs to do this:

* I want to create a bundle as a separate product, and then add 'normal' products and services into it

* be able to specifiy a discount for the bundle, and to which products in the bundle the discount is allocated

* order form shall show the included products, their prices and the applied TOTAL discount

Is there any way to accomplish this today, or does it need development?

OK thanks for the feedback Brian. That was just blue sky thinking from me without considerting any limitations, but I suspect that I'd be happy with the 'conventional idea of a bundle', what would that be? Could you describe it please?
