Greg
Hi, Can someone explain to me hos to setup the affiliates system in 2.5.8? I have enabled the facility, i have actived the affiliate system to work with a client but the bit that confuses me is : 1 - What is the AffiliateLinkCode and where is it found? 2- What code do you put in the Affiliates Link Section? I tried several examples and it did lift the referels count but how does my client link it so it adds the new account based on the affiliates system Currently the page in the manual is terrible to say the least.
MACscr
the client gets the affiliate link in their client area. For some reason this link isnt available in the admin panel. You dont HAVE to enter anything in that affiliatelink section if i remember correctly. The affiliate system in general is severely lacking.
Greg
Thanks for the reply. Ok, i see the affiliate link. Thats fine and if the user clicks on it it takes them straight back to my website and adds a count to the referels total but i cant work out how a new client signs up via the affiliate link. Sure, it takes them back to my site but nothing changes and new orders are just per normal without any way of knowing they had been reffered orders so i cannot pay my client his share for the referrel. Is there a trick when a reffered order is placed?
MACscr
have you looked at your affiliates list under Clients? From there you will be able to see any referrals, etc. Start making a list of what you would like in an affiliate system Hopefully Matt can make some changes and/or I have thought about writing one myself for WHMCS. I already have a pretty big tool that I think everyone will really like that I hope to release in the next couple of weeks. Its not affiliate linked per say, but kind of.
Greg
I tried it again and it does work now however every single order that comes in also registers it as an affiliate sourced hosting job. Even after closing everything down.
MACscr
lol, of course it will even after closing everything down. Thats how affiliate systems are supposed to work. I forget how long that cookie/session is good for, but its at least a couple weeks or maybe 2 months. I forget. That probably should be configurable from admin as well. I know its not, but i think it should be. The system might not be great, but it does work as its supposed to.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted November 12, 2006 WHMCS CEO Share Posted November 12, 2006 The article in the manual on setting up the Affiliate Link Code provides a full example of what you should enter and explanation. I don't know what more you could expect. Here's a direct link to the page: http://v2manual.whmcs.com/?id=79 And as MACscr has said, of course it doesn't just credit the affiliate with signups in that browser session. Now that would be a bad system. Matt
amnesia
is there any way to allow non-clients to join the affiliate program? I would think it would be better if anyone could promote my service and not just existing clients! I think an improved affiliate system would be real real nice as an addition to the next release of whmcs
amnesia
something like: http://www.hostgator.com/affiliates.shtml

I think an improved affiliate system would be real real nice as an addition to the next release of whmcs i would like this feature as well, the user could be labeled as an affiliate and not a client so that it doesnt show up in the client list and only shows up in the affiliates list.
amnesia
hostgator is said to have the best affiliate program. I want to integrate that type of system into the best 'complete billing solution'!!

addeacher
Well i setup a customer with affiliate and seem to work except that how can i configure where the affiliate link take them to. Not all whmcs customer use whmcs / customize to use as there website, for example if your site is http://www.domain.com and your whmcs is at http://www.domain.com/billing the affiliate link take the person being reffered to /billing instead of domain main page. I kno its a very simple system and not perfect as nothing is perfect. It would be great to setup campaign etc and as another poster said allow none client to be a affliate and also able to stare / direct where the link take the person being reffered to
generic
with the ability to run a script at the end of the signup like whmcs allows, i would guess you could integrate almost any affiliate system.

addeacher
Wasn't reffering to after sign up, however was reffering to the link the client gets to use as there affiliate link. for instance if i use a complete different5 domain for whmcs from my website, the affiliate link send the person being referred to the whmcs and not the actual site.
MACscr
not really true, whmcs will redirect you to your main site after the user clicks the link. You just have to have whmcs setup right. =P
skshost
I forget how long that cookie/session is good for, but its at least a couple weeks or maybe 2 months. I need to know exactly how long the cookie session is. I may wish to change it aswell.
Harrison
By the looks of things it's 46 days, however you'll have to get confirmation on that. I got that figure by logging in to my personal client area and going to a clients affiliate link.
decor
hello Just how is the correct config if your whmcs is on a different domain to your hosting? not really true, whmcs will redirect you to your main site after the user clicks the link.
