Alticon-Brian
What the hell have I been doing for years?!?!? I keep waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting for ModernGigabyte to get off the stick and get **** working. I talk to Kris, Blake, & Andy in person, airing my grievances. I'm told "parallels is going to allow us to make things better." Well, I waited another 6 months from these promises & decide that "I like them, I'm just not in like with them anymore." Lo and behold, WHCMS. I checked it out 6 months ago. It looked sweet, but I'm in the middle of my "modernbill only beats me because he loves me" stage. Within 10 minutes of downloading, I have everything set up. In fact, I have everything set up and working better than it did before. Now, onto testing the client import script.
keliix06
Client import script works well. We made the move last month.
Alticon-Brian
Agreed. Considering MODERNBILL couldn't even write a decent V4 -> V5 migration script.... this is pretty amazing.
stephen_c01
Mb sucks; I'm a convert also. I am told that 4 was pretty good but 5 is just an abortion. Getting examples for server modules is like pulling teeth. I had to " Decrypt one of their modules just to get a good example of a payment gateway. -sc
JamesC
The only issue we had with the import script was domains, they have to be set up in a certin way I think it was like Registered Domain or Register Domain Something like that you can finds it by doing a search on the forum and it will explain it. Enjoy we have ......
Sitetech
Join the line of customers that moved from MB to WHMCS. MB is nice, but complicated, buggy and support sucks. WHMCS is simple, has a many features, and support is very good. They even adjusted their migration script on my request, for nothing. You won't regret it, your life will get better after you move .
chickendippers
Yes importing domains was the only problem we had too, and I think that was more due to MB sucking than the import script.
pdpd
Well done, you made the best move you could possibly make. MB is an embarrassment. The backing was shambolic. One of my support tickets with them took 13 months to get an answer. With WHMCS you're unlucky if its more than 13 minutes. There is no comparison - WHMCS is an incredible piece of software, developed and backed by people who care about it, with a great interface. In about a year you'll look back to the MB days as 'how did I ever put up with that...' Anyone using MB and reading this thinking about moving - do it.
50mb
We thought about it but when tested 5.6.0 credit card details could not be transferred over so obviously that was out of the question. With over 9000 customers we cannot transfer their details one by one almost impossible Not so good so far same issue we had when going to modernbill 3 years ago
chickendippers
Credit cards can only be transferred across by WHMCS support, the automated importer can't.
griffe
I have an FULL ModernBill license... I dont use it.. WHMCS is a much better product for most users and you can actually understand it out of the box. WHMCS > ModernBill !!
velcomrob
Hi I have a question. we are actually developing a portal making use of modernbill, but after seeing this is it difficult to convert all our templates to WHMCS from modernbill? we are still under development but would hate to add more delays to our launch in trying to switch to whmcs at this time unless there was an easy way to convert. there will be no customers under this new platform. we have existing customers in our old custom platform which we will be phasing out eventually.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted November 17, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted November 17, 2008 Hi Rob, You wouldn't be able to use exactly the same templates you use in MB for WHMCS, but we use the same system of "Smarty" for the templating engine and the WHMCS frontend is very easily customisable as a result. The entire frontend is controlled by templates which makes it fully customisable and you can do that using any HTML editor. Matt
