Account Creation Failed: (Curl Error) Couldn't resolve host '' - code: 6 ????

Hey all.

 

Got this error message when trying to create a new web hosting account today:

 

Account Creation Failed: (Curl Error) Couldn't resolve host '' - code: 6

 

Any help?

Having same issue, I tried everything sugested

Including firewall whithe list of the ips and disabling firewall

reinstalling curl

checked hosts in server and resolves OK.

checked connection to whm in server and it connects OK.

I don't know how to test any of the above, but if it'll help you can tell me how and I'll happily post my results.

If you're using a firewall, what firewall are you using? Personally I use CSF by ConfigServer.com - one of the most popular software firewalls out there. In the ALLOW section, just put in your WHMCS IP number and it'll let the machine access it.

 

Also, verify that whatever HOSTNAME that you created does actually resolve. That's probably one of the more common things that people forget to do.

Actually, I think what you are describing will give "cannot connect - error 7"

 

The problem is that the server cannot resolve the remote domain. If you are a reseller, you need to contact your host. If not, check your /etc/resolv.conf (if running linux)

Firewall would be error 7. Hostname would be 6.

The error the OP is getting is: Couldn't resolve host ''. This is saying the host is '' (ie. blank). Therefore that means either the package is not assigned to a server (dropdown set to None) or the server it is assigned to has no IP address entered. Should also check a default server for new hosting packages is set in Config > Servers.

Ahh, thanks for your help Matt. I hadn't set the default server up yet since I moved to a new reseller host. Also, I had to select the server name from the list before it would create. Will this happen automatically now I've set up my server to be the default?

having the same issue, i did everything I could think

 

White list firewall

check host for the resolving

check and test connection to whm

tried different servers for account creation

set default server

check package server

tested curl

Used SSL

used root and password as a user.

 

Still I get (Curl Error) Couldn't resolve host '' - code: 6 with any server I try to connect.

In the server configuration section, did you define the IP number? Did you remember to put in the Username & Password at the bottom (or the Key).
