Text messaging the clients!

I also do not think this is a good option to have as it adds a level of complexity and another point of failure. But, that being said, it is easy for clients to add a contact to their account, and set the email address to be the email for their text message service of their cellular provider. For example, for AT&T is is 5555555555@cingularme.com.

install an email2sms gateway and add an additional contact for the user contacts for billing. This will then allow you to customise the email2sms template to send a summary.

I have done similar on my inhouse network monitoring with nagios.
