Tax not showing before customer confirms an addon order; Should I make them Products?

I originally had items like extra bandwidth as new products but started thinking they'd probably be better as addons since you have to have a hosting account to get them anyways (you can't just buy extra bandwidth and leave!)

Anyways, I added them as addons but noticed that on the customer side there is no tax amount shown before they complete the order. Once they complete the order and view the invoice, the amount includes the tax. For example, if the addon is $1, the total will be $1 with the tax being $0. When they confirm and the order is placed, the invoice will suddenly be for $1.05 (5% tax). With products instead of addons, the tax amount shows before they confirm which makes more sense.

Am I missing something? I don't want to start getting customers complaining that the amount they're actually being charged isn't what they actually agreed to when they clicked confirm! Should I go back to bandwidth and dedicated IPs being separate products?

We've gone the other way and scrapped addons completely and created everything as products, and made certian "groups" only purchasable if they have an active item that they relate to ...

I think I might just do that too. How do you make a product group only purchasable if they have an active item that they relate to?
