Terry
Hey, I was looking through demodemo.com and i was thinking, i could do that ! Then i was thinking, what use is showing your clients how to pay their bills in WHMCS if you have intergrated WHMCS, it may look diffrent. This is where my idea comes in, would anyone be interested in buying flash demo's which would be 100% custom to their site, so it would feature your layout and not the standard WHMCS layout. So my question to you, Would you be interested? If so, how much would you be willing to spend on such a service?
handsonwebhosting
Interested? Yes, you'll find a lot of people interested in making things custom. The question comes down to the price factor. Everyone wants everything for free, but there are a few of us out there that are willing to pay. The trick in this situation is that you're actually creating a NEW demo for each person, thus EACH project is different. It will require "X" time on your end to do the flash work and then make it pretty with voice overs etc. So it comes down to what is your time worth, and will people pay for it. Last in the list is the marketing factor. You're essentially providing a FEATURE/SERVICE rather than something required. Since people can pick up the DemoDemo products relatively cheap you have to decide if you're wanting to compete with them, or if you're actually a different product. Would I pay $100 for something that my customers may or may not (most of them NOT) look at? Does it add value to my site, or does a generic demo accomplish the same task? We all like branding, so there's definitely a market - how much of one, that I don't know. There are a few companies out there that will flash demo ANY product, so there's definitely interest.
ST-Michael
I would suggest $10-15 per flash video as you can have an endless supply of flash tutorials for this industry.
handsonwebhosting
But $10 isn't worth the hour that it takes to make a CUSTOM video. Again we're looking at a totally custom solution rather than just slapping a logo on the front and last page (like what demodemo and demowolf do). The $10-$15 is probably the range people will pay to get it done, but I"m sure the maker would want more revenue than that given the amount of time necessary to create each flash video from scratch. Hard to say what I'd personally pay since it's just extra icing on a cake that is already being eaten.
ST-Michael
Well. What he could do is what everyone is doing. Outsource it to India
DosDawg
Well. What he could do is what everyone is doing. Outsource it to India and that goes without comment !
handsonwebhosting
heheh.. ever tried to outsource to india? How many of the projects were done RIGHT and on time? Rather how many used comments in their code I'll stick to outsource in the US, UK and Australia
brianoz
You can get good outsourcing in India, but it's rare, and you need to know how to deal with them.
handsonwebhosting
Yes you can. One of my design buddies has a gal who he's had on staff for more than 5 years without any major issues. The issue with most is that they take what you say literally. If you say "make this work" and they do, then they consider the job done - not testing to find out that their code now breaks "X" on the same script. It's still a quality control issue, but I guess that's the same with ANY programmer or designer. Test test, retest, test, display, test, test, finalize, test test, retest, public, test test. Now go back and edit and break everything again
