andy18
Hi Guys, I am not sure if anyone have this before. Generally, some of us may have lots of servers added into WHMCS as your hosting business is good However, have you come to a time when you need to reset all the root password just because of one of your tech staff left the company? What's your options of updating the password in the server and WHMCS so that the API can run smoothly for new account setup, suspension / unsuspension? We have recently found a web based application Password Manager Pro which has a feature called Password Management API http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/passwordmanagerpro/help/password_management_api.html Will this work for WHMCS or any other one have a better idea imagine if you would like to reset 100 servers of root password?
juiced
Hi Andy18, Even if you had a system to update all your passwords for your 100x servers, you'd still need to update them within whmcs manually. This API wouldnt update the servers table within whmcs. Sorry, looks like you need to spend half an hour resetting passwords. Great stuff to hear you have 100x servers though!!
othellotech
Dont give them the passwords - use SSH keys and revoke their key
handsonwebhosting
Yeah, none of our system admins have root passwords - everyone logs through one of 3 servers, and then uses that server to connect to other servers for shell access (if needed). WHM is done using the WHM access inside of WHMCS. When we had 30-40 servers we used to reset the passwords on the server every month, we still do, but only a couple of our staff have that full access to be able to reset things like that.
handsonwebhosting
Note, that if you VIEW SOURCE from inside of WHMCS on the servers page you CAN view the Cpanel WHM password information. Would love to obscure that information somehow.. or at least make the configservers.php page so that you can't view the source.
cyberneticos
Dont give them the passwords - use SSH keys and revoke their key ¿How do you revoke their keys on 100 servers without entering into the servers manually? Using a script or something? ¿Anyone using anykind of SSH gateway with WHMCS?
