wiszmaster
Quick question - which DNS servers does WHMCS use to determine where to send signup emails to? I run my WHMCS on the cpanel server i'm using to host my clients until i get my new colo in about a month. Right now when Joe Schmoe signs up with Joe@JoeSchmoe.com, he gets his account emails. But Joe Schmoe is bringing his domain with him - JoeSchmoe.com He will get all emails until the cPanel account is setup - then WHMCS must be seeing the new DNS records that are setup on the cPanel DNS server & delivers it to a non-existing account on the newly setup domain. Can the DNS server be specified? Thanks, marco

There's typically some overlap time, and clients typically order new service before they've shut off their old service. I've never had this be a problem. You can always have them use an off-site email address to sign up with.
wiszmaster
Yes, I understand that DNS changes are NOT instant - for the general public. My best guess is that since the WHMCS is residing on the actual cPanel server that is also a DNS server, that jut had the DNS zone file setup a second or 2 before the email is sent .. HOWEVER ... the /etc/resolve.conf points to different DNS servers, not it's self, they are upstream. My Question was if somewhere within WHMCS is a setting that specifies DNS servers for WHMCS to query? And saying that the end user should signup with a offsite / external 3rd party email isn't always practical.
othellotech
Its not related to DNS ... It will be because the domain is now "local" to your server so teh emails get put in the local users *mailbox*. Just adda line to your signup email saying that they can view all official mails about their account in te client area under "my emails"

Othellotech's answer rocks (I hadn't thought of having them read email within WHMCS. Duh! That's perfect.)
