Nnyan
Hello, I've read all the posts on how to enable a free subdomain but I still can not get this to work. Here's what I've done. 1. Created a Free Hosting package under the "Other Product" type. 2. In Product & Services --> Details --> subdomain field: entered ".myfreedomainname.com" (note: this is different then the main hosting domain name as I want the free accounts under a different name). Here are some things I noticed: 3. In Clients Profile --> Summary page --> under Product and Services listing the order says (No Domain). 4. When a customer signs up for a free subdomain they are never prompted to enter what they want to call the subdomain (ex: testcustomer.freedomain.net). 5. When I try to create the account it fails (generic error message). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Nnyan
To be precise the error I get is: Server Command Error Account Creation Failed: Account Creation Failed I've been able to create other accounts fine.
dansgalaxy
Try changing the type to shared hosting or just hosting and you have to have a module set up IE select cPanel and as long as all your access stuff is correct, it should do it Dan
Nnyan
Ok so I answered some of my own questions. I had Show Domain Options (product details tab) unchecked. Once I checked that I got the window where it asks you to input your subdomain. It now fills in some of the empty boxes so that answers those questsions. @dansgalaxy Thanks for the suggestions, I tried setting things your way and I still run into my final problem, and that is that the account creation fails with the free subdomain. All other accounts work fine. I tried the wrong password just to check and I do get an error that indicates login failed. Now that I'm thinking about this, aren't subdomains created from the control panel? In my case I want the subdomains created on a different domain name then my server (ex: in whmcs server is myservername.mydomain.net but I'm creating subdomains on freedomains.com). Should I create a new "server" (even though this server is really just a domain on the real server) and make that the default for subdomain accounts? Well I tried creating a fake "server" pointing to the domain name and using both the cpanel username/password and the whm U/P. When I use the cpanel account login fails when I use the whm just get the plain account creation failed.
dansgalaxy
yes and no to sub-domains have to be created in cpanel i mean yes for the account you can create sub-domains to use on the same account, but in this instance for all intensive purposes when you create a account with a sub-domain of a domain you own it acts (or should) EXACTLY like a proper domain. Does the package name have any spaces in it?
mysmallbizu
If a free subdomain is created as a product BUT you have the ability to purchase a domain or point an existing domain to your name servers selected in the General Settings Configuration you still get 3 domain options at signup. Purchase domain Use Existing domain enter sub domain name I want the only domain option to be the subdomain name selection. How can this be setup if the other options are in the general settings tab and apply to all hosting related products?
Nnyan
Just an update I had accidentally checked a feature on the free subdomain product so that it then did not match the product features as created in WHMCS. Thanks to support for pointing me in the right direction! @mysmallbizu I'm just now looking for that solution also.
mysmallbizu
did you ever get the answer to having ONLY the sub domain option to be available at the time of signup? I'd really like to have this option on a specific product
