I got mine in http://www.support.eastsolid.com/billing and works fine. I wouldn't see why or if its better if you have it installed in a subdomain or just in a folder. Unless WHMCS is using Ruby then you don't have to worry about sub-domains and folders as you have to do with some Ruby scripts...
