Adding Custom Database Fields

Will anything in the system get messed up if I add custom fields to my database in myPHPAdmin?

 

For example, I am adding web templates in my "other packages", and I want to always have the option to add a thumbnail image, and also a field to show if there is an html version and/or a flash version available.

 

Also, once added in the database, does anyone know which template pages I will specifically have to update to get these fields to show up on the admin other packages page?

add it to a separate table, and you'll definately be fine
