jnet
guys it seems I need a break. I am confused when piping you do a forwarding do you at the same time make a pop email account with the same email address? confused
nielsenj
No, depending on the panel it shouldn't let you make a pop account if you have a forwarding account already created. If i remember correctly, email forwarding supersedes accounts as it's a part of the route an email takes to it's destination. Any piped mail will be put into your software if it's setup correctly.
jnet
thanks so do you mean that when I set up pipe for whmcs I just make a forwarding and should not make a normal pop account right?
nielsenj
For piped email to function you must only setup a forward to the pipe file. You do not need a pop account setup. If your panel allows you to setup a pop account and you have a forward already setup it may cause conflicts but i can't tell you for sure.
rldev
So out of curiosity, how do most of you handle the following type of addresses: support@hostingcompany.com billing@hostingcompnay.com ?? How do you send email from such account if they are only setup as forwards? Do you simply answer everything and initiate new emails to clients strictly through WHMCS for these addresses? Thanks. This is new to me.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted April 21, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted April 21, 2008 How do you send email from such account if they are only setup as forwards? The answer is you can't. So you would need to use a different address like yourname@ or info@ if you want to send and receive emails with a regular email program like Outlook. Yes that is the way it works. I wish the email to the admin had a link that actually takes you to the ticket.

Nick
You can reply to ticket opened emails from outlook, but I would recommend using the interface in WHMCS over that. You'll probably find you need to anyway, as the emails don't necessarily identify the customer.
