jas
Of Course there is paypal, but i mean a module that will allow us to accept cards direct on our website. Looking for the cheapest way of doing this as i dont really have much knowledge of it. Thanks for your help guys Jas
ask21900
I wish someone could answer this, as I would be interested too... The problem is that there is no way to actually find "the cheapest." Different merchants charge different rates, and sure, some are cheaper than others, but some merchants give lower rates based on how long you have been with them, what your sales are, whether or not you are prone to chargebacks, and a whole mess of other criteria. Therefore, there is no way that any one merchant has lower fees for everybody. If somebody finds one... Let me know
jas
Thanks for your reply, If it will help anyone out there, we havent been with any merchant, we arent very prone to chargebacks at all. Obviously i dont really want to post sales info here. Are we able to post a merchant that is generally better than most? aka generally speaking merchant xyz is usually fairly cheap
ask21900
I have done research, and spoke with many companies, and I have yet to find one that I like as much as Paypal... YMMV but for me, Paypal is the best. You may want to look at paypal's Website Payments Pro if you want a regular merchant account (not attached to Paypal on the client side)
jas
Paypal payments pro does look good but the £15 a month is a bit of a draw back. But then again i dont think im going to find a merchant that will only charge per transaction
ask21900
I have found many providers that claim to charge only per transaction. Their rates are usually extremely high, and also add-on "hidden" fees. I have seen where they will offer "Free Gateway, Free Merchant Account", but then charge $20 for a statement fee (that you can not opt out of), and $X for this, and $X for that. they still get their money... just call the charge something else.
jas
Have you had any exp with 2CheckOut? There is a setup fee but then they claim to charge only per transaction?
ask21900
I've heard a ton of very bad things about them... Of course, with most companies there is negative things said, but 2checkout more than your basic upset customers... YMMV

BTW: I didn't find their site to be slow (maybe it was just a spike in load)... EDIT: Sorry... I did not refresh before I posted... other users have posted since then.

Since then, i have received numerous calls from india from people who can't understand that they do not have the cheapest rates, and can't take no for an answer. I eventually had to block their number. I just checked my boxtrapper queue, and they send about 12 emails a day to me as well.

They do not have a bunch of indians working for them and they will not spam you like your stating. They have very good rates and their gateway is very fast (quantum). I have met a large number of their staff in person. Also, whoever recommended them must not have realized that they are US only merchants. They do not provide merchant accounts outside the US. 2Checkout is not a merchant provider, so you cant even consider them an option if you looking for on site transactions. They also are very shady and their rates are extremely high. Its foolish to use them. If your looking for a quality merchant provider in the UK, the only ones i would recommend are paypal pro and protx. Neither are cheap though.

Look at the title of that email: "CDGcommerce Instant Rate Quote & Application Follow-up" You filled out the application online, but you havent completed the rest of the paper work. That email is just a reminder that is sent out daily until you complete it or the application expires. I got the same emails when i signed up with them. Is that the case, if so, whats wrong with that? If they truly are outsourcing sales calls to india, i would really be surprised and definitely disappointed. I have spoken with their VP of sales many times. I just might shoot him an email about it and see what I can turn up. That type of business practice is not a good one IMHO. I wont touch an indian call center with a 10 foot pole. EDIT: Saw your email numbers. Thats not good at all. Are they all the exact same thing? From the exact same address? I really hope they arent outsourcing like your stating, but from the sounds of the really bad email and call management, it sounds pretty typical indian work. =(

I would expect a few "follow-ups" but not as many as I have been getting every day since I submitted the request. When it reaches about 10 per day, every day, I consider it harassing. Although, honestly, I do not mind the emails so much as they just get put in my boxtrapper queue. If you decide you want to shoot an email to the VP of Sales, I would love to hear what he has to say. I was actually extremely interested in them until I got all those calls. That just irritated me, and I don't like to do business with companies that irritate me.
