Can WHMCS handle mailbox-only sales on a single domain?

I’m trying to let our members create and purchase a single Smartermail mailbox on our existing domain. So far I’ve cobbled together a custom form and automation workflow, but syncing passwords between our site & SmarterMail server, and provisioning the account cleanly is still giving me trouble.

Has anyone used WHMCS + Smartermail module for something like this? Based off of what I've read it seems the WHMCS/Smartermail module is more about selling the domains with mailboxes. Would it be possible to configure it in a way that allows a user creation on a single domain?

This module has been created by SmarterTools and they shall be better able to advise  whether this can be changed at configuration level: https://www.smartertools.com/company/contact-technical-support

Alternatively, you'd be looking at developing or outsourcing the development of a custom module to integrate with their API: https://developers.whmcs.com/provisioning-modules/
