Connecting my WHMCS website to WordPress

Hey guys 👋

I'm interested in connecting my WHMCS website to WordPress because I heard it's better to do it that way, however I don't really know the full detail of why it is better to do it that way. Can someone please explain to me the cons and pros in doing this, to help me to make an informative decision?

@SIM I wouldn't recommend it from a security standpoint. What does Wordpress provide that isn't in WHMCS?

Thanks for responding.

Based on what I understand, someone was saying it's best to make WordPress my main website and setting up a subdomain specifically for my billing portal using WHMCS.

This approach is said to streamline operations, as WordPress offers user-friendly content management and excellent SEO capabilities, helping to increase the site's visibility.

I was told that separating the billing system onto a subdomain (e.g., billing.mydomain.com) can enhance security by isolating sensitive data and allowing for tailored security measures.

If I could get some feedback on this, it would be great.

It's right.
I suggest keeping your WP main site on a server (or in some kind of hosting service), and the WHMCS subdomain in a completely different server or hosting space.

How to join them?

Basically: In your WP site you have your frontend and related marketing content.
redirectsSomewhere, you insert a "login" button that redirect to  https://panel.yourdomain.com/clientarea.php

Other automations are possible in WP using WHMCS external API (important: call them using a user with limited permissions!!!)

WHMCS is my main website and only website right now, I don't have a WordPress site. Not sure how I would turn WordPress in my main website. Is this process very technical? What is the con in doing this?

I have just done exactly this myself.
Since your WHMCS is already setup, all you need to do is build your Wordpress shop-front.

Then place various links across your WP site linking to your WHMCS.

i.e. 'Login' or 'Client Area' which links to your WHMCS clientarea.php
'Buy' or 'Add to cart' buttons under your products linking to your WHMCS products in cart

It's not technical. It's fairly simple.

etc. etc.

@Grant S I understand what you're saying but I'm not too sure if it's the same thing. Your way that you mentioned sounds like WHMCS would still be my main website and WordPress a secondary website with links pointing back to WHMCS. The main domain should be on WordPress so mydomain.com and the billing portion on WHMCS so a sub domain would be created for whmcs portion example billing.mydomain.com

Correct me if I misunderstood

Did you make any progress?
I started with wordpress as my main site so I have WP on www.domain.com and WHMCS on panel.domain.com. If you currently have WHMCS as your www subdomain, you'll need to move that to another subdomain, which I haven't done yet but see instructions for here https://docs.whmcs.com/system/system-tutorials/move-whmcs-to-a-new-subdomain/. You'll probably want to build your WP site on a different hostname first so that it's ready to move to your www subdomain at the same time that you move WHMCS to another subdomain.
