3.5.1 - re-open domain registration invoice - domain gets renewed ?!

A customer requested cancellation within our 30 days money back period.

 

The original invoice had a three month hosting charge, and 1 year domain registration charge.

 

We don't refund the domain registration, so I thought my best bet was to re-open the invoice, add a line showing the refund, with a negative amount, refund that amount at Authorize.net, and then record the credit under Add payment to close the invoice out.

 

However, once I did that, a renewal for the domain was processed!

 

This should not be allowed to happen. I'm guessing that what happened was the same thing that happened when the invoice was original paid - the domain registration line triggered a registration. However, since the domain was already registered, Enom treated it as a renewal.

 

Whatever the cause, it seems like a problem to me. Now I wonder if this has happened before and I just haven't noticed, as I do this type of invoice adjustment occasionally.

The only way this would happen is by marking the same invoice paid twice. In which case this would be expected as a payment triggers the automation.
