WHMCS development license for typical dev->staging->live setup?

just_a_user

Question

Hi,

just a question about the development license:

If I purchase a license directly from whmcs.com, I may obtain one (extra) development license key as stated per https://www.whmcs.com/members/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=78

Does this cover the following setup with three different systems:

dev server (local, no public ip, development license)

staging server (restricted public ip or intranet ip, development license)

production server (public ip , real license)

?

Hi there.

If you submit a ticket to Licensing after logging into your account with us, you are welcome to request a developmentr license there.

A Dev license works the same as a paid, production license.  It may be tied to 1 domain, 1 IP and 1 directory path.

Important:  A development key is a free license that must only be used for testing and the site "must not be public facing".  To protect your Dev installation, you may add it to a local IP or domain, or you may htaccess or htpassword the site.

And please note that your Dev license "will remain active as long as you have an active monthly license directly with us."

I hope this helps.  Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.  Thank you so much!
