Adding Custom Fields to Domains & Their Invoices

Hi folks,

I'm in need of having a way of applying a custom field to domains on an account (ideally, all accounts), such that the field is added to the invoice generated when the domain comes up for renewal.

For products, this is very easy with the "Custom Fields" configuration section and the "Show on Invoice" tickbox. For domains, there is no such option, unfortunately.

I raised a ticket with WHMCS support regarding this and they suggested making modifications to the viewinvoice.tpl and invoicepdf.tpl template files, which could conditionally include the domain fields.

My question is, how can I go about adding the field to the domain in the first place, such that they can be included in invoices, like the equivalent option for products. Is there a way to accomplish this?
