Invalid Payment Method Selection error when customer tries to pay

I am seeing reports of an  Invalid Payment Method Selection error popping up when the customer enters his/her credit card details and opts out of saving the card details - I don't know if this last bit is relevant. We are using php 5.6 because of a Halkbank payment gateway requirement and we are also using maxmind.

I checked the bank's logs and the failed transaction never reached them.
