Auto Redirect on Checkout

In admin panel --> general configuration --> order form

has 3 options:

Select to not automatically redirect and just show the order completed page

Select to automatically redirect the user to the invoice

Select to automatically redirect the user to the gateway

 

Which one do you use? I m a newbie and try to find out the advantages/disadvantages of each one, so as to decide which to choose.

I prefer redirect to gateway.

 

Just showing the order complete page is no use because the payment stage is broken up , most people expect to have to enter their payment details straight after placing the order. Having to wait for an email, or login to the client area will confuse people.

 

There's no real need to redirect to the invoice to see a summary of the order because the customer knows what they're ordering - and it was summarised in the orderform anyway.
