captjack
Hello Im looking to do a Single sign on/in Authentication with several joomla sub sites on the same domain. We are looking to accomplish this with either soap or open-ldap Authentication. I took a look at the online manual with regards to an api and was only able to find a small sample. Does anyone have any more information? Regards Jack

captjack
Hello all When I first opened this thread last year (dec idea stage?), I looked into JFusion which is just for j 1.5 and not 1.0.15, there are others as well. While I totally love the new 1.5x, Not all of the components in the library work in 1.5 even in legacy mode. Also, legacy runs slower aprox 20%. quote from vender website: JFusion does not support every software out-of-the-box, but is designed for people to easily write a plugin to create a bridge, without re-inventing the wheel. Currently supported softwares are: vBulletin 3.6.8, phpBB3, MyBB, IPB, SMF 1.1.4 and punBB. also, how is this user information being sent to the server? hashed or over ssl? I still need to do more research. either way, I find it more comforting to know that my client information is secure. this means to me: that we still need to create a plugin/ or template mod that checks the authentication, as well as a login for whmcs that redirects to the ldap login. so if that is the case, why not just create a bridge/plugin for whmcs when almost every usable project management and support system uses ldap/kerberos? Our Business is primarily a production company and not a hosting one, so the idea is eventually bridge other os (and commercial) project management scripts and support systems that do support ldap. Also, ldap has some security issues that I'll need to address, possibly with a kerberos addition and quite honestly, this seems to be slightly intimidating and I have to bring someone in to set-this up for us on a Linux dedicated server. For us this is important for the simple fact that we are bridging many sub-site design catalogs, project management and a support system. For me, I've opened a custom-job ticket (2 weeks ago) and have not had the chance to follow up with Matt. Sorry Matt, I need another week to sort things out. This requires certain details and criteria to be met, and i'm still in the process of putting together a white paper. When I've had a chance I'll be glad to post my research here. Best Regards J
MACscr
I think the idea of integrating user logins with joomla is a bad idea. Now you have to programs that you have to worry about being secure. Plus, I see no point in having them integrated anyway. Even more, I feel that joomla is junk (been a cms developer for a long time now), so im a bit biased.
generic
i use a cms for my clients, and I use the skeleton files and a free script using postwww to write the user name into the config files and my databases .sql file which I store in the skeleton files All I have to do is create the database after setup and everything is up and running. (soimetimes the script adds extra line breaks to a php file so i have to manually login and remove them, but most of the time it works great. it would probably accomplish exactly what you want if you use a stock database when you set them up.
