rbro
I'm getting ready to set up an affiliate program and I wanted to pick the brains of those of you who have been through this. What are the major advantages/disadvantages of using the built in WHMCS system? I've also downloaded and installed JAM by jrox.com: http://jam.jrox.com/ Anyone tried this and/or the built in system and have any comments?
RapidCityHosting
ive used jam by jrox before when i was using clientexec. although good, i didn't really trust it to accumulate the referrals. since whmcs offers an affiliate program inside....you know its guaranteed to work.....(at least id hope so), plus it automatically combines with your template.
othellotech
a dedicated affiliate system will offer you more options, more tracking abilities, more variables/configurations, more reports etc etc the in-built one whilst adequate for some is quite simplistic. the real challenge is getting a 3rd party tool to integrate well to WHMCS (or any other billing system)
Baja
the real challenge is getting a 3rd party tool to integrate well to WHMCS (or any other billing system)Challenge aside, does anyone have a recommendation on one of these "3rd party tools" or is everyone sticking with whmcs because it is to challenging? Edit: Othellotech have you tried jrox before? Was there a paticular reason you went with the product you did rather than a different one?
nerdudes
I have been looking at jrox affiliate and like the features. However I cannot find any tutorials or any threads regarding the integration. Seems like it could be very straight forward. Has any one had any luck with it? Thanks

othellotech
We use iDevAffiliate. I looked a JRX as it appeared intergartion to WHMCS was something other users had done, but then iDev brought out v5 which *seems* to work well enough. There are still a number of things none of them do that i'd like in our affiliate system, so it's on the plan to develop something eventually thats specfic to our needs, or possibly pay WHMCS to make a number of customisations to the inbuilt system.
nerdudes
We followed every steps stated in the documentation by JROX but have not been able to make it work. We are also looking at Post Affiliate Pro as an alternative as we have read about poor support and respond by idevaffiliate (otherwise we would have chosen them). However if someone has any tips about getting JROX work is much appreciated.
unitminer
I think the best affiliate software on market is currently PostAffiliatePro4. their new release is top of the art and they have also integration method for WHMCS: http://addons.qualityunit.com/integration-methods/_iwhmcs/
