TTBSupport
Hi We are new to WHMCS. We have a webhosting server with whm installed. We were looking around everywhere for instructions, as we intend to use whmcs with wordpress (we previously manually billed via paypal). We found your your youtube video Installing WHMCS but we require some points of clarification: We had been thinking that WHMCS was installed somewhere in the root of the hosting server and honestly your instructions are very unclear: Upload the WHMCS zip file to your server Extract the zip file and move the WHMCS files your desired location (popular directory names include members, clients, secure or billing) Where on the server? root? root/sys? It appears however from the video in fact one should first: a) create a new domain in whm b) login into cpanel of the domain and use the database wizard to create a db/db user c) create a folder in the public_html directory of the domain (by way of file manager or in ftp) d) then upload whmcs into that folder. (the video starts here and skips a-c but we deduced the prior steps when we saw the upload path at 1:12 of the video) Please confirm this is correct so we are no longer assuming. If it is your video effectively skips several crucial steps and assumes the user knows this software is not installed into the root of the server somewhere. We had no idea - we thought the software bridged to a domain similar to cpanel after some further steps were fulfilled at a later time, and it was shocking when we realized this was not the case. Have not even commenced the understanding of this with use in WordPress but we see there is a WHMCS Bridge Plugin which is next on our list after the above steps are confirmed. If someone knows whether WP and WHMCS should each have their own db, and if Wordpress and the WP theme should be installed before WHMCS is uploaded we would be most grateful for advice on that as well. Again what we have found on the net about this has been equally vague and we can see thousands of people have pulled their hair out over this in the past. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Best Regards Rob
