Fresh Install of 702 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Fails with Internal Server Error

I tried installing WHMCS 7.0.2 on a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 LTS cloud server using Virtualmin.

 

Install works until pressing the "complete setup" button. Goes for about 1 minute then get the "Internal Server Error". When I rerun the installer it says "We have detected that you are currently running WHMCS Version 3.6.1. This update process will upgrade your installation to 7.0.2."

 

Have tried install many times and same result every time.

 

Everything upgraded to current on the server including all the requirements. PHP memory set to 128MB

 

Any ideas on how to get the install to work? I tried 3 different version including 7.1 and same result in each.

Ok solved it with the help of Chance at WHMCS.

 

It was a timeout issue as he thought. I adjusted the "Maximum PHP script run time" in Virtualmin (php.ini).

 

I changed that to 300 from the default of 40 and tailed the WHMCS installer log, it got farther this run but failed at the "6.0 Alpha" point.

 

I then set it to 360 and it went further again but threw out an error related to the mysql strict mode setting I had in my mysql cnf file causing a zero date error. I'm not to familar with these settings so used one suggested on the net which yielded another install failure. I adjusted that and the WHMCS install completed without error this time.
