Emhope
Hello, I’ve added around 300 domain extensions to our WHMCS setup hoping to give our users a lot more choice. But WHMCS seems have slowed right down to the point of not responding. Now when a user searches for a domain they just receive a timeout error message. How many domain extensions can WHMCS handle? And is there a way to have all the extensions without breaking the site. Thanks
twhiting9275
WHMCS can handle as many domain extensions as you throw at it, honestly. The caveat here is that you cannot have them all searched for at the same time. Think of it like this.... Each TLD is going to require a search to a separate provider. This (obviously) is going to slow down your search as it is. So, with 300 searches, you're going to have to query some 300 registries, which may (or may not) be running the fastest hardware/connections around. So, that 300 queries is going to eat a ton of time. There is, however a way to keep all 300 TLDs in, no worries. Just don't search all 300 when your customer searches. Here's how #1: Login to WHMCS admin #2: Head to whmcs -> admin -> setup #3: Click on the 'domains' tab #4: Choose 'Standard Whois' . Enom will NOT do what you want to do in this case!!! #5: Click on 'configure' #6: Select at most 10 TLD's to search from. Make sure they're reputable TLD's (.com, .net, .biz, .us, etc are the best for this). Your customers will then see a faster search. They'll still be able to order the other TLDs, as long as you have them configured, they're just not going to see instant availability results for them.
Emhope
Excellent, thank you for the quick reply. This is exactly what I'm after. Website is working fine again now and users still have the option to register new extensions.
