Invoicing start date

I am testing for a day now but I cannot find out some things about invoicing so let ask.

Scenario

Besides normal hosting packages I want to sell custom products/services. In this case I created a custom VPS for one of my customers and we finalized the work yesterday. Now I would like to invoice monthly beginning on the first of this month (01-06-2016). I cannot find out how to do that. When I manually add a product I cannot specify a start date. Question 1, is this possible?

Workaround

Because I could not get this to work I tried a workaround. I made a manual invoice for the periode 01-06 to 30-06. So this works for this month but I will have to set up something so that is recurs on the 01-07. Again I could not do this with the products/services so I though maybe I can create a billing item for that. I think this should work because there you can select "Invoice as Normal for Due Date" and "(Next) Due Date". The problem with this solution is that I cannot get the variables needed in the description "Product blabla form 01-07-2016 to 31-07-2016" and this is needed for the customer.

Can anyone help me to get this working properly?

Please don't bump threads. Your thread will be answered by the community (or if you're lucky by a staff member) when they run across it. Bumping threads is bad.

Looking at the question, it's rather simple.

Firstly, create the service, as you appear to have done.

Next, go into the user's account, in the admin area, and select their services tab

Once there, find the service, adjust the dates appropriately in there.
