Authorize.net CIM Change to Stripe Tokenization

We have been using a traditional Merchant account for a long time, most of that time it was CDGCommerce when they had an outstanding deal, but they started getting really pricey on all the Fees we started paying, the same goes with the Merchant account we are moved to and currently moving away from over to Stripe.

So this wasn't a project we were looking forward too, I found an article over at DNSsimple.com Blog titled "Switching from Authorize.net to Stripe". (You can read it here: http://blog.dnsimple.com/2014/07/switching-from-authorize-net-to-stripe/ Thanks Anthony Eden for posting that article).

What was mounting as a big project I though I would just use both modules, Authorize.net CIM and Stripe.

So after reading the article and the hassle DNSsimple had, I thought there has to be a better way. So I installed Joseph's Stripe module and just started switching people from Authorize.net CIM to Stripe..... and that is when the problem began.

When someone would add a Card to Stripe or a new customer would order, the card would be placed (or attempted to be placed) at Authorize.net and look at Stripe for the account information for the customer to pay. And because none was there, the charge would fail. Not good.

So I went back to Joseph Clarke of Server Ping to see if we could hire him to help us with this special issue, as we have his Stripe Payment Module for WHMCS.

Joseph had a great idea, I didn't even think of (as I was thinking doing it the DNSsimple way), after a little time Joseph preformed some special programming that would make sure all NEW orders and any existing clients new credit card is stored in Stripe and paid through Stripe where as any clients that still had a card with Authorize.net CIM would just still pay via Authorize.net. This is a win - win without ALL the hassle of the other alternative of getting Authorize.net release the clients data to Authorize.net and Stripe adding it in an hoping then trouble shooting any mismatch in data in the 11th hour. Now all I have to do is encourage our clients to change their cards. And that is much better for us.

So, my HIGHEST Kudo's goes out to Joseph, he is a big time help, helping us get through this change over. And if you want to switch over to Stripe, get Joseph's Stripe Module. It just works.
