Invalid blocking of domain transfers when a hosting account exists

In 6.0.3, they changed the way transfers are being handled.

So for example, customer signs up a web hosting account with domain 'bobs.com' but doesn't transfer over his domain registration at that time, but then 3 weeks later, decides to transfer over domain registration of bobs.com, he will get an error when putting in a domain transfer request as the 'Domain already exists'

Domain registrations and web hosting accounts shouldn't be linked together by any means, they are completely different things. The only solution is to untick the 'Block existing domains' function, which I'm not sure is a good idea as it'll allow duplicate web hosting domain orders as well.

Does this bother anyone else?

I have version 6.2 and this problem still exists. When a customer with existing hosting tries to transfer a domain name to us, they are told "This domain already exists in our database so cannot be ordered again"

I opened a ticket on this, and here is the reply:

Thanks for contacting WHMCS. I've been able to replicate this issue on my end as well and can advise that case #CORE-9425 is open with our developers in order to have this reviewed for future releases. Unfortunately, I cannot provide an estimated time for completion for this. However, once we resolve cases and push features they are available at our change log, here: http://changelog.whmcs.com/

In the meantime the transfer order can be placed via the admin area (Orders > Add New Order), or the Setup > General Settings > Domains tab > Block Existing Domains option disabled temporarily.

I apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this.

Thanks again for taking the time to report your findings.

So, hopefully this means they may fix this behavior, at some point.
