New Game Server/Voice Server Hosting Company

Automatiic

Question

Hello!

I am in the process of starting a new company. We will be hosting video game servers and voice communication servers. So far, WHMCS seems to be the most robust solution available but I haven't been able to find the answer to a couple of key questions. Any help you could provide would be much-appreciated.

1. I am very familiar with Quickbooks and now with the Online version, it's simpler than it's ever been. I love it because it automatically prepares everything for my taxes and communicates with my bank. Does WHMCS integrate fully with Quickbooks? If not, can the billing system in WHMCS adequately replace Quickbooks?

2. Can WHMCS interface with VMWare to automatically create a server based on the package the customer chooses?

I want to automate as much as possible and if WHMCS can do these two things, I'm sold.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Out of the box, the answer to both your questions is no. However check http://www.whmcs.com/members/communityaddons.php for third party addons.

ModulesGarden has one for QuickBooks http://www.modulesgarden.com/products/whmcs/quickbooks/features

Thanks for that answer! I noticed it says that it works with WHMCS up to version 5.xx but WHMCS is up to version 6.01. How long did version 6.xx come out? I'm trying to get an idea of how frequently ModulesGarden updates their plugins.

Also, anyone else have an answer for question two? Thanks again, everyone!

Shoot! I could have sworn I replied to this hours ago but I must have been sidetracked and forgot to submit my post.

In any case, thank you for replying to my post. The ModulesGarden plugin seems like a great way to get QuickBooks to play nice with WHMCS. I noticed though that the plugin says it supports WHMCS up to version 5.xx but WHMCS is now on version 6.xx. How long has WHMCS been on the version 6.xx release? I'm trying to gauge how quickly ModulesGarden updates their plugins.

Also, does anyone have an answer to my second question in the OP?

Thanks again for your help!

To answer your query about ModulesGarden and their updates to v6 compatibility, they are working on it and have been since v6 was released (according to their website). They do have a lot of modules for WHMCS so there will be some work and time to test them all and apply any updates as needed.

This thread shows the current module v6 compatibility: http://www.forum.modulesgarden.com/news-and-announcements/modules-that-support-whmcs-v6-t2372/ - Sadly Quickbook for WHMCS is not yet on this list though if you create a ticket, hopefully they will tell you where it stands in terms of priority for v6 updates.

That'll also give you an idea for their response times also. Once they're compatible with v6, they should last a long time before needing an update as most of the API / backend will remain the same.
