Repeated Emails For Same Invoice

Hello Folks,

I setup the WHMCS as billing software for one of my clients 2 months back. Earlier they were managing the account using spreadsheets and they slowly started migrating the accounts to WHMCS manually (about 400 accounts) with all the services and products details but they kept the SMTP setting incorrect just to prevent WHMCS send any emails to their clients. WHMCS was generating all kind of emails during this period and also the unpaid invoices. Now they have corrected the SMTP settings to let the WHMCS send email but the problem is WHMCS is trying to send out all the email reminders it generated during these two months. Some of their clients even got 70+ invoice overdue emails. I have disabled the cron job temporarily but how to get WHMCS not send those old emails?

Hi Vbatra, you have a couple different ways to look at this.

But the first thing you want to do is login to WHMCS > General Menu > Automation Settings > Look at Billing Settings > Payment Reminder Emails >Disable or Adjust.

Also, do not forget that cron is correct for wanting to send those emails if you have let WHMCS generate invoices for 2 months and did not manually updated the invoices status to "PAID" so you will need to do that also.

Lastly, sounds like you cron is running at more than once per day??

More can be done but its hard to say without seeing your specific WHMCS.

Best,

Trevor~
