.CA Registration Problem - Parameter Value Policy Error - 7017

We saw this error crop up yesterday and wanted to provide some more information to others who may also experience this using WHMCS.

 

"Invalid Registrant information. - Parameter value policy error - 7017 - The contact name is not a legal Canadian entity - see documentation"

 

The above error is returned because when registering the domain because a client has likely selected 'Corporation' as the registrant type and some of the information they've provided is invalid. The reason it's invalid? CIRA expect the 'Company Name' section of WHMCS to contain at least one of the following words before it is considered a valid corporation:

So to resolve this error, be sure to include one of the above names in the 'Company Name' field of WHMCS and re-try the registration. It's quite possible that the name should include its registration status anyway, but we can't say for sure. You can also indeed work around this by selecting 'Individual' as the registrant type instead, but that's not really a resolution and technically makes the registration invalid.
