best place to install whmcs

Okay so I have a physical host machine (Linux)

On this machine, I created a guest virtual machine (Linux). Its just a small spec guest, this is where I have placed my website for my business. Now that I bought WHMCS, I was going to install WHMCS on this very same guest VM, where my website is hosted. But now i'm thinking, maybe I should create another small guest vm (linux) and install whmcs there instead? This way if something goes wrong or theres a security hole or some issue (i.e theres been whmcs exploits before if I recall correctly) , the website won't get hacked, and vice versa. They will be 2 seperate environments.

This is also kind of why I run the website off a guest vm, this way if something goes wrong, the physical host machine won't be damaged either etc.

What do you think? Am I going overboard, should i just install whmcs in the same spot as the website or no? Or do you truly believe it does not matter

it doesn't matter :)

you can do what you think is best for you and your business, and have all possibilities in place.

if you going to add WHMCS as sub.yourdomain.com then you can add it in separate VPS or VM as like to do.

bugs, exploits, or whatever they call it will be always exist in any software what's important is to keep yours updated and secured as far as you can

Install it just as any other website you're installing on your machine.

For security just follow up with post-install instruction of WHMCS which is documented already.

Other security related about your machine is up to you and never can be expected.

Easily start with just hosting it on a simple hosting, when you feel you need scaling then scale.
