craigo
On August 15 2014 WHMCS posted on its blog that for the upcoming WHMCS major release the minimum requirement for ionCube loader will be v4.6.1. This version, 4.6.1, is the latest release of ionCube and was just released on April 22 2014. What percentage of servers you think will have the latest release of ionCube (4.6.1) installed on them? 1% or 5%? As far as I know this is not the type of software updated on a regular basis on the servers. My server, for example, is always updated with the latest PHP and MySQL, but the version of ionCube it has is 4.4.1. I suspect WHMCS will not function on most servers if the next release would indeed require a minimum of ionCube 4.6.1.
TekStorm Inc - James
ionCube loader v4.4.1 was released 13 June 2013; at this point, over a year ago. Updates are released to address bugs, compatibility, security, etc. issues. The ionCube loader should be updated just like any other software on your server. In actuality, it's a relatively painless update. Edited August 21, 2014 by TekStorm Inc - James
