Iceman
Just a bit of trivia SWSoft has purchased both Ensim and Hsphere(Psoft)... looks a bit like a monoply on Control Panels is taking shape. Cheers, Paul (EDIT: added Sphera to the subject line.)
MACscr
maybe they will finally combine the best of all those worlds into one quality cp. Those two are not any good on their own.
Iceman
lol.. we all have our own opinions. I personally prefer Hsphere (well, did) ...will have to wait and see what SWSoft does with it. Cheers, Paul
PPH
I haven't used h-sphere but found Plesk to be poorly organized navigation wise in my opinion. I always hate watching companies buy out other companies and sooner or later all the startup companies don't have a chance and you are stuck with one or two companies to choose from

Swsoft agrees that plesk has room for improvement (they admitted it to me in person).

At first appearance I thought Plesk looked nice and as I kept having to go back home to navigate back to a different level, I learned they really needed to work on navigation. I am curious to see how they merge the 2 or improve each.
Iceman
hmmm... I wonder if any other CPs are on their list??? !! Cheers, Paul
generic
hsphere is really made for clustering vs plesk. hsphere needed a makeover, hopefully they can make it look professional vs the homemade look.
Iceman
SWSoft have now also purchased Sphera. http://www.thewhir.com/marketwatch/091807_SWsoft_Acquires_SaaS_Provider_Sphera.cfm Cheers, Paul
brianr
It's bad enough trying to get information out of SWSoft about Virtuozzo, so much for most of the alternatives except cPanel now...
Iceman
Is anyone aware of an CPs around that work well in a clustered environment? e.g. With Hsphere I have a CP server, Web servers (Linux and Win), mail servers and DNS servers. All of which are "controlled" via the CP server. Works like a charm at present, but we are just planning ahead. Pleask Expand may be an option... not sure how it will compare price wise with Hsphere though. But, then again, both are now owned by SWSoft so kind of defeats the purpose! kris1351
Interworx is supposed to be able to handle clustering. As for the buy that will really take down Hsphere as a great product I feel. Dealing with SWSoft is never pleasant.
Iceman
Hi kris1351, Thanks for the info. Sorry, I should have been more specific. We actually have our own servers in Sydney. The good news with regards to Hsphere being bought by SWSoft, I suppose though, is that they also bought the entire Psoft development and support team. So hopefully Hsphere development, support and pricing will continue as before. Cheers, Paul
Iceman
Add Helm to that list... http://www.swsoft.com/en/news/id,15663 Cheers, Paul
impactgc
Its sad -- cause Helm was good. Swsoft better get their butts in gear and offer better support. I sometimes wait DAYS for support! Adam
scurrell
Add Helm to that list...http://www.swsoft.com/en/news/id,15663 Cheers, Paul Yep. There's a lot of very unhappy Helm users around now, ourselves included.
Troy
Count me in the unhappy Helm users group! Guess we'll be looking at DotNetPanel now. No way I'll deal with SWSoft again.

Troy
Roll on cPanel for Windows... Was considering that, but it only looks like they'll be supporting MailEnable for email - not sure I'm thrilled about that, having used ME in the past.

Guess we'll have to look elsewhere too then.
intel352
HSphere is great for Linux/Windows. Yeah, the acquisition by || sucks, but heck, Comodo (the previous owner) wasn't doing any better. HSphere's support was best when PSoft was in charge. Must be a hard business to run on their business model though (perpetual licenses) I tell you, HSphere v3.1 is awesome though. I'm definitely glad I owned licenses (prior to the purchase by parallels)
