Hush
I just did an update on WHMCS since there is a new update, but after updating, it loses all my theme work, so the design went back to defaults. Is there a way to make design stay even updating?
ufshane
the best way is to copy the theme folder and rename it... if you are making changes to one of the included themes it will get overwritten everytime
WorldWideWebDev
I learnt this the hard way and had to redo all of my setup every time there is a major update, and lately that is a ridiculous amount of times. Then i realised. When uploading the new files into your WHMCS directory your FTP program may ask you a question. (depending on your preset settings) It may prompt you with " there is already a folder named "BLA BLA" in this directory , if you continue , all contents of this folder will be overwritten" Then you have a choice "Continue" or Merge Folders" On the first few occasions I did choose continue and found everything lost to a standard install. Grrrrrr. Then i tried Merge on subsequent installations / patches. When choosing "Merge" i then get prompted that there is a file named "Bla Bla' in the current folder, If you continue that file will be replaced with the new file " This time i chose "Continue" to overwrite the file. This scenario prompts you to overwrite existing files which is ok, because WHMCS updates do not include your custom theme or add ons etc. So a merge will prompt you to overwrite current files, even in the themes folder, which is the Blend theme, V4 etc but not the Say "My host" RackHost' ThemeForest" folders because the update does not include these. Therefore it leaves the custom folder alone and i ended up with my themes and add ons still intact after the update. One thing it does overwrite in this second scenario is the custom logos, Invoice logo etc. Again, because update include these logos and they are always overwritten. We create our own logos by uploading a logo and calling it by the same name, not by choosing a logo. So a full backup is always handy to have so that when you find an item has changed a quick upload of the old backup item gets you going quickly. Hope this makes sense , cheers.
DavidBee
Simple, Do not use the default theme folder names in future.
